Nature-based solutions for coastal resilience (LC-25-3-133)

Description
Coastal Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) offer innovative and sustainable ways to enhance resilience against erosion, flooding, and storm surges. However, what works in one location may not be effective in another, making well-informed design and assessment crucial to success. This course provides early-stage practitioners, designers, assessors, and councils with the knowledge and tools to implement NBS effectively while managing associated risks.

This three-session online course explores the fundamentals of coastal NBS, covering key processes, benefits, design considerations, and risk assessment. Participants will gain practical insights into the use of mangroves, reefs, seawalls, wood, and rock structures to reduce wave energy and protect shorelines. Real-world case studies will highlight best practices, common challenges, and regulatory requirements.
