HEC-RAS

Sediment Transport with HEC-RAS (LC-26-3-168)

Description
Sediment transport, channel erosion, and reservoir siltation are pressing challenges for infrastructure, ecosystems, and public safety worldwide. Modern mobile-bed modelling provides powerful tools to evaluate these processes, forecast river system responses, and design effective mitigation strategies. With recent advancements in mud and debris flow algorithms, HEC-RAS now offers enhanced capabilities for simulating complex sediment behaviour in both 1D and 2D environments. This course prepares practitioners to apply these methods to real river and reservoir systems.

This advanced training delivers practical, hands-on experience in building, running, and interpreting 1D and 2D sediment transport models in HEC-RAS. Through guided instructions and real-world examples, participants learn to simulate erosion, deposition, channel adjustment, reservoir sedimentation, and geomorphic response while gaining confidence in applying the newest sediment and debris modelling features.

Designed for hydraulic engineers, geomorphologists, sedimentation specialists, environmental planners and water resource professionals working with rivers, reservoirs and sediment-impacted systems. This course will help you master the newest sediment and debris features in HEC-RAS.
